Due to a Corona eruption in the team, the Pacific State of Vanuatu had to cancel its participation in the current World Cup qualification tournament of the Oceanic teams in the host country Qatar. This shared the football confederation Oceania ofc on Saturday.
"Since the vast majority of the squad has been positively tested on Covid-19, Vanuatu informed the FIFA about his withdrawal from the tournament," it says in the message.
Already on Thursday, the opening part of Vanuatus had to be canceled against Tahiti due to the outbreak. "Until further notice, Vanuatu World Cup qualifiers apply as canceled," says it in the statement.
In addition to Vanuatu, the Cook Islands also struggle with the virus and had to cancel their second game against Tahiti on Sunday also said the OFC.
The eight teams comprehensive tournament, where New Zealand participates, ends on March 30th. The winner will travel again in June to Qatar and meet the fourth places of the South American qualification.
