THE OUTER WORLDS

The Outer Worlds liked to be a fallout: New Vegas in space in advance. After all, Obsidian Entertainment is responsible for the same developer studio as for those classics from the PS3 / Xbox-360 era, there is a lot of humor, you can put them on the sides of different factions and experiences all of the ego perspective. However, The Outer Worlds also reminded us very much about Mass Effect. A real Open World, as we know you from the fallout games, lacks. Instead, you control the different planets over a galaxy card whose maps are quite clear. The game is also significantly shorter than other RPGs, at least if you follow only the main story. Within its genres, it is therefore more likely to be a small snack in between - but one that tastes outstanding.
The story may not be a great strength of The Outer Worlds. But it offers nice stories in its individual quests. This is especially true for the missions that turn around your companions. Especially Parvati we have grown especially to the heart. The game also likes to take the time to shut down the humor level and play something more emotional sounds. Furthermore, the quests shine with a great freedom of choice and the shooter-like battles play quite solid. Especially the science weapons such as the shrinking and thought control emitter ensure a lot of fun. By the way: The Outer Worlds 2 is already announced, but should also appear much later than Starfield.

Where we mentioned a fallout and talk about games here, which are like Starfield and the waiting for the title should sweeten, we do not come around to mention also Fallout 4. And yes, we know that this part is a bit controversial. Bethesda has shut down the role-playing elements compared to its previous matches and instead introduced bases as a new feature, but what does not everyone feel like. The story that has never been suspicious in Bethesda games is particularly weak in Fallout 4 and graphically the title was already quite dusty to release 2015.
But: Fallout 4 is not a bad game despite all this and, above all, it has no bad Open World. To explore the postal-pokalyptic Boston and its surroundings is a lot of fun. Everywhere there is something to discover and if it is not a quest, it is a place with strong environmental storytelling, where only a story is told on the basis of the ambient design. The shooter gameplay is not even bad for an RPG and the extensive crafting system allows you to modify your weapons in a variety of ways. That makes the search for prey more motivating. PC players are also looking forward to making endless ways to take Fallout 4 and to make an even better game. Small tip at the point: Definitely try Sim Settlements 2! The mod not only improves settlement construction, but also brings its own story and various additional side quests.

Cyberpunk 2077

No, please, stay here! Do not close the browser tab! We are aware that Cyberpunk 2077 is an irritant topic, especially for console players. And yes, the versions for the PS4 and Xbox One we can still not recommend, despite patches. But we are honest: on the other systems, especially the PC, CD project is recent work at least since Update 1.5 (and the release of the native PS5 or Xbox-Series-X / S versions) is a very good role-playing game. Yes, Night City is more a beautiful backdrop as a really interactive, credible world, but Cyberpunk 2077 offers one of the best video game stories of recent years with well-written figures. There are also numerous excellent side quests that extend the playing time significantly.
Thanks to the now improved opponent Ki, the fighting now make great fun. Hardly a role-playing game has such a good gunplay like Cyberpunk 2077. Bethesda has to make a hard time to oversee it with Starfield. Even if you prefer to go creeping and makes a lot of use of hacking skills, the title knows to talk. And if you have a strong computer, cyberpunk 2077 will be wondering alone with its bombastic optics. Hardly any game raytracing uses so well. So yes, the game has not become the over-hit, which CD project red once touted. But it is excellent to bridge the waiting time to the release of Starfield.
