With Death Trash by the German Indie Mini Studio Crafting Legends recently a classic role-playing game with action elements in the Early Access started (Epic Games Store, Gog.com, Itch, Steam). The game reminds heavy on Fallout 1 and 2, but sets a real-time combat system à la Hyper Light Drifter and scores with a pretty creative game world full of blood, botchy to creative meats, garbage, pussy, cyberpunk and cosmic horror, looking for friends Snown - everything packed in one as well as coarse pixel style style, which sometimes benefited from more animation levels.
Story: _ "Humanity traveled to the stars and settled on the planet Nexus with his ancient secretions of stone and flesh. But the old secrets were brought to the surface and the people fled into the dumb cities. The wasteland is now animated of ejected, controlling machines, and worm-grown. You are one of the outcasts, wearing a dangerous burden, and your path will bring you through deserts, ruins, the underground and beyond. "_
Alone in the tutorial rooms are allowed to produce some organic lubricant with the ability "puke" (with cooldown!) To get a clamping machine back. In addition, one learns the elementary combat systems and the flowing transition between near and ranged. If you want, you can also sneak through the area in time-limited stealth manner and sees the fields of view of the opponents for orientation. An attack out of the Stealth is rewarded with a strong damage bonus. The fight feels good and liquid. The control is reminiscent of a Twin Stick Shooter.
The first steps and the first conversations in rather short-held multiple-choice dialogues are quite unusual and interesting at the same time, which is mainly due to the unique world design and sometimes imaginous meats. In addition, many black humor, few survival and crafting elements and decision-making torques. It is a pity, however, that the interesting stories and quests in the early-access version end relatively abruptly and the player's freedom is circumcised. But it is also an early access version that is to be steadily expanded - hopefully with a mini card and with more of all (opponents, objects, characters, decisions), because the unique game world could still offer so much more .. .
Incidentally, it has enough points in the ability "Animalism", meat poses can be tamed and collected around. Theft and locks crack there are also as skills, while with the attribute of occultism can improve communication with the meat.
The playing time of the early access version with main and side quests is according to crafting legends five hours - but can also be shorter or longer, depending on the play style. Many game systems are already included, but the playback value is currently rather average (decisions, variety, better networking with player progress, etc.). Besides, the fight is currently stressed stronger than the battle-free alternatives, which should change later. Engraving bugs or crashes are not noticed in the Early Access version.
With the early access updates, the story should be successively expanded and expanded. At the same time, new characters, quests and objects are installed. The Early Access should take a year or more. A coop mode (local multiplayer mode, split screen or two persons from a screen) is implemented in a very rudimentary version for two games.
The Story campaign in the full version should be for 20 hours. At the same time, the developers promise a higher playback value, better gaming elements away from battles, more languages and optimization of local co-op mode - beside bugfixes and general improvements to gaming experience. Whether an online cooop mode can be implemented is still unclear because the team is quite small and the budget is quite manageable. Modding support incl. Level editor is also considered, but not in dry towels. The price of the full version should not be raised. Currently the action roleplay costs 19.99 euros.
First impression: good
